GRAETZ Super 171W

SABA Meersburg W3

This radio was launched in 1953, by GRAETZ, one of many German companies that was very successful at the time in this field. This model was quite high-end, and the quality is evident in all aspects of the unit.

This unit has a beefy main speaker plus an electrostatic tweeter, which results in very good sound quality, especially using the pickup input and on FM reception.

besides the FM, this radio also has LW, MW and SW, the latter being very good in both sensitivity and selectivity.

It has separate Bass and Treble tone controls, a magic eye tube to assist tuning, and a rotating ferrite antenna to tune into MW and LW stations without the need for an external antenna. There is also a built-in FM dipole antenna, so again no external antenna is required.

This set has been completely and meticulously restored, with the tubes tested and all faulty or worn components replaced, to ensure years of service. The chassis has also been redone.
